Our site offers many excellent art pieces as reproductions or more commonly called 'Giclee'. The Giclee process offers high-end artwork at reasonable prices! When selecting any of the fine reproductions in our Art Gallery that is listed as a reproduction (or Giclee) here is important information regarding each piece.
Giclee is a French word meaning "To Spray". The Giclee printing process involves spraying microscopic dots of ink (about 1/4" the width of a human hair) onto fine quality paper or canvas. When printed as an IRIS print on paper, the inks are actually absorbed slightly and blend to create fine art reproductions that are often indistinguishable from the originals! The process yields prints of stunning vibrancy, depth and realism. Giclee IRIS printing is a very slow process which produces prints- one at a time. These prints have a much higher resolution relative to the offset lithography and other digital printing processes.
Many artists are reproducing their art in Giclee in recent years. Many art pieces are photographed and then printed, creating a 2nd generation print. You should know that all art represented on our site - is of the highest quality available! Much care and attention to the end result is taken to ensure an exact replication of the highest quality.
Each original painting is digitally scanned in the highest resolution available today. The scanned image is then proofed and approved by the artist, ensuring that the image correctly captures the brilliance and vibrancy of all colors. The image is then printed using the finest quality lightfast inks on watercolor paper. The color fidelity and subtle tonalities inherent in the original artwork are maintained. The end result is an exeptional museum quality print virtually identical to the original painting!
